Expression of appreciation

Originally Appeared in : 9920-9/26/19

Dear Editor,

I first wish to say how much I appreciate receiving the Southern Cross. We in the Diocese of Savannah are most fortunate to be able to keep abreast of what is happening in our Church and how we relate to its teachings (Pope Francis, bishops, et al.).

The second point I wish to make is how much I enjoy the pieces by the clergy and laity who contribute on a routine basis (or often). I have always found pieces by Mary Hood Hart to be right on target re: how we should treat our fellow man. Father Pablo Migone speaks well of his experiences in prisons, with immigrants, etc. Plus his accent is greatly appreciated by those who have lived in Spanish speaking countries. Fathers Kavanaugh, Clark and others write messages we need to hear and act accordingly.

Unfortunately, at this time, our country and world need more cooperation and courtesy shown between God’s creatures. Fortunate to have had 12 years of an education taught by nuns, I recall the quote, “But for the grace of God go I.”

Thank you to the staff and the diocese for giving us such a fine tool to help us in our lives, during this turmoil. We really do need this food for our souls as we strive to act more Christ-like.
