New principal appointed at St. John the Evangelist Catholic School, Valdosta

Vito Pellitteri has been named principal at St. John the Evangelist Catholic School in Valdosta. Pellitteri has worked in public schools for more than five years serving as the Band Director for the middle school in the Tift County School District.

He served in the military for six years, having been deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In addition to his military service, he served as a Sheriff’s Deputy for the Cook County Sheriff’s Department for more than 7 years.

 

Serving as a model of a life-long learner, Pellitteri attended Valdosta State University where he has earned three degrees – a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education, a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and an Education Specialist’s Degree in Educational Leadership.
In his spare time, Pellitteri loves playing with his children, Will, age 3 and Eli, age 1. He also enjoys fishing and playing music. He resides in Valdosta with his wife and children and attends St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

 

Pellitteri recently stated that he believes that “Catholic education is a vehicle through which a child can experience God at such a fundamental level that (s)he is truly formed to become God’s people. We are called to educate the whole child. Through Catholic education I can help children become the people God has called them to be.”

 

St. John the Evangelist Catholic School is a PreK – grade 8 Catholic elementary school in Valdosta. It serves more than 150 children in the community.
