Caroline Ebberwein has joined the Department of Catholic Education’s Office of Youth Ministry at the Diocese of Savannah. She began her work as Director of Youth Ministry on July 1. Having worked in youth ministry and as a teacher in Catholic schools, Ebberwein brings a deeply grounded faith experience to her new position.

She attended Catholic schools in Savannah from kindergarten through high school and attended St. Mary’s College, Indiana, graduating with a degree in Religious Studies and Sociology.

Following graduation she taught theology at Benedictine Military School, Savannah and served as Director of LifeTeen at St. Peter the Apostle, Church in Savannah for the last two years.

Michelle Kroll, Senior Director of Catholic Education and Superintendent of Catholic Schools said, “Her qualifications and experiences in Catholic education and youth ministry will be assets in serving our Catholic communities throughout southeast Georgia.”

Ebberwein commented that “she is anxious to begin visiting the parishes and schools to provide support and direction to those that work with the youth in our diocese. My goal is to ensure we provide resources and training to continue growing our programs that touch the hearts of youth.”

Ebberwein continued to say, “I can trace my involvement in youth ministry back to my own experiences in youth ministry. My family has been very active in training me in my faith and modeling an active spiritual and sacramental life. I am thankful.”

As Ebberwein prepares to serve the people in the Diocese of Savannah, she noted that “each of us is called to guide our youth to a relationship with Christ. Building relationships and engaging in constant contact is imperative to shepherding young people to a conversant relationship with God.”
