In the year 702 before Christ, the Prophet Isaiah foretold the impending death of King Hezekiah of Judah, who had heeded the prophet’s warning and purified the religion of his kingdom 20 years before, lest it suffer the fate of the Lost Tribes of Israel at the hands of the Assyrian Empire.

Sister M. Michelle Carroll, RSM, died peacefully in her sleep at Mercy Convent in Savannah on August 24. She was 96 years old.
Sister entered the Sisters of Mercy from Haines City, Florida in 1944 at 23 years of age. Prior to entrance Sister graduated from Florida State University with a BS in Chemistry and Education and worked as a chemist in the Florida citrus industry.

Father George Gray Greenway, 91,  a retired priest in residence at St. William Church on St. Simons Island, died Monday, July 23, at Marsh’s Edge home on St. Simons.

Sister Mary Ellen Barrette, 87, died June 4, 2018, at Morgantown Care & Rehabilitation Center in Morgantown, Kentucky. She was born in Essex Junction, Vermont, to the late G.W. Barrette and Marguerite Kennedy Barrette. She had been a missionary for 63 years as a Glenmary Sister, beginning in 1955. She served home missions in Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio, Kentucky, Texas, and Missouri. She enjoyed working with Religious Education, visiting nursing home residents, and she oversaw the Catholic Thrift Shop in Millen, Georgia for many years.

The Right Reverend Lucien D. Lindsey Jr., an Anglican priest who was ordained to the Catholic priesthood, died March 14, at his home. He was 80. His wife of 56 years, Jeanne Lindsey, survives him.
