Students in the seventh grade in south Georgia were asked to reflect on the lives of the Georgia Martyrs as examples of pursuing a faithful vocation in the 2018 Vocations Essay Contest.

The question presented to the 7th graders this year was “How have the lives of the Georgia Martyrs inspired you to go on mission to spread the Catholic Faith to others in our Diocese of Savannah — as a priest, religious or lay person?”

Last year, the Augusta Vocations Ministry heard a Vocations Director from another diocese on the EWTN “Vocation Boom” radio program comment on when young people think about or decide on a vocation. The Vocations Director was of the opinion that people initially start thinking about it in the 5th Grade and then think more about it in the 11th Grade.
